James Swinton and Company Limited are the main contractor for the construction of eighteen timber kit two storey attached houses, as part of a social housing scheme in Eyemouth.
The houses are a mixture of two and three bedroom properties and we are responsible for every aspect of construction. Berwickshire Housing Association are keen to reduce fuel costs for their tenants and as one of our main clients we have integrated renewable energy technology into many buildings that we have constructed for them. This project is no exception and there will be small, silent, wind-powered turbines fitted to each property that will generate some of the electricity for that house.

The sites for each development were initially two vacant fields. The Todlaw site is adjacent to Station Avenue, Duns, and the Berrywell site is adjacent to Home Avenue, also in Duns. We were the principal contractor for this new build project and we constructed four new timber kit houses, two on each site.
Hawick

The site for this project was wasteland that had not been used for several years adjacent to Buccleuch Street, Hawick. We were appointed the principal contractor for the traditional construction of 19 sheltered housing flats with associated common areas i.e. lounge, kitchen and laundry. |
